Blur faces in a photo, right in your browser.

Hide faces, number plates, names or anything else before you post a photo. Draw around it, pick blur, pixelate or a black box, and download. Nothing is uploaded.

Try it offline
  1. Open this page once and wait until it says it works offline.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data, or switch on airplane mode.
  3. Reload the page. It still opens and still works, because nothing needs the internet.

Developers: open DevTools → Network before choosing a file. Processing makes no requests. Afterwards the page sends one anonymous count (which tool, how many files) to our own statistics server, never a file or its name, and the page's Content Security Policy blocks every other site.

How to blur a face in a photo

    1. Choose a photo, or drop it onto the box above.
    2. With your finger or mouse, draw around each face or detail you want to hide. Any shape works; it closes when you let go and is hidden straight away, so you can see the result.
    3. Pick an effect: blur, pixelate or a solid black box. Tap a shape to remove it, or use Undo.
    4. Download the photo. The original on your device stays as it was.

    Which effect should I use?

    • Blur looks the softest and suits faces of people in the background.
    • Pixelate makes it obvious something was hidden on purpose.
    • Black box is the safest for text, such as names, addresses, ID numbers or documents.

Blur and pixelate shrink each hidden area to a few blocks before scaling it back up, so the detail is thrown away rather than smudged. Still, the shape of a head, hair or clothes stays visible, and people who know someone may recognise them by those. When it matters, use a black box and make it generous.

    Questions

    Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser tab, on your device. "Try it offline" at the top of this page shows how to check.

    Does it find faces automatically?

No. You draw around each area yourself, so nothing gets missed without you noticing.

Does the saved photo still contain my location?

No. The photo is saved fresh from the edited image, without the location, camera or date details the original may carry. You can check with the EXIF viewer.
